Breast symmetry 

 

 

 

According to a survey on 2.500 breast operations conducted at our own practice, we found that almost ten per cent of the breasts were asymmetrical. Breast symmetry can be re-established – the following treatments are possible, depending on the size of the breasts and the degree of asymmetry:

· only one breast is enlarged
· both breasts are enlarged to various degrees (the large breast more than

  the small breast)
· one breast is enlarged, the other breast is reduced
· both breasts are reduced (the small one less than the large one)
· only one breast is reduced

Many factors determine the duration of the operation, the kind of anaesthetization, clinic sojourn, scars, and the time after which a wound is socially presentable again.
