some years ago wrote a fantastic book "Beauty Surgery" which has
meanwhile become a classic in its field. It is now followed by a video
"Beauty Surgery and the Human Being" which is not a simple
TV-film on beauty surgery but a work of art, as aesthetical as his
aesthetic surgery and likewise professionally accompanied by classical
music. A
distinguished practice is the background, in the center of attention is
the exhaustive explanation for the patient. Panfilov does not raise false
hopes. Each of the displayed operations show the master’s handwriting:
the endoscopic forehead-lifting, a face-lift, the Midface-Lift for the
40-50 year olds still without sagging cheeks – first implemented by
Panfilov, a nose operation which deserves highest marks in its result, the
exoderm peeling for acne scars, a breast reduction and breast enlargement,
liposuction et cetera. Each of them show the pursuit of perfection.
"Anatomy
is destiny" (Freud). Nobody is responsible for their appearance, yet
everybody is trying to improve it as best as possible. Even the most
beautiful are striving for perfection, want to be even more attractive:
Why be coy? Why try to make a secret out of it? – A beautiful nose can
change your life even though you will quickly get used to it. Dr.Panfilov
considers aesthetic surgery as a matter of course: "We also restore
art work!" and "face and body should be in unison".
These
propositions are based on logic which will maintain and which take
aesthetic surgery off its pedestal. Just as his video which offers
certainty for patients who are still searching and spares the medical
field from damnation or jubilation, it presents it on the grounds of
reality.
