The press agency "ap"
quoted an Emnid survey commissioned by the women's magazine "Marie Claire".
1000 people in Germany were asked whether they were happy with their
olfactory organ. 62 % said they would never want to have cosmetic surgery on
their nose."
Almost half the
interviewees (46 per cent) showed respect for people wanting to correct
their noses for aesthetic reasons. 31 per cent said they liked people with
small noses better than people with big noses. 79 per cent even said that
women with small noses were more beautiful than men with small noses. 10 per
cent said they SUFFERED from their big nose.
Since 78 per cent said they
were completely happy with their nose, the newspapers wrote "THE GERMANS
LIKE THEIR NOSES". The editors simply ignored that 22 per cent were
completely unhappy with their nose. 38 per cent did not negate the question
"Would you ever consider cosmetic surgery to change your nose?". Our
candidates are among this group. After all the question remains: "Is the
glass half empty or half full?"
