operations. Highest concentration of aesthetic surgeons on German ground
with 230 plastic surgeons from 19 European countries participating. Social
programme (setting, gastronomy, rock-music, opera diva, classic pianists):
styleish. Mood during the boat trip on the Rhine River: exuberant. Overall
impression: MEGA!

7 days "Full Day" programme
with hundreds of talks, panel discussions, video-theater, lectures by
internationally renowned luminaries, numerous courses, breakfast and lunch
symposiums, several events preceding and following the official symposium,
1800 participants, mainly from the USA and many of the 83 non-Americans who
came as members of the ASAPS. Only members are invited. Non-members can take
part as Guest Surgeon only if they are invited by one of the members. No
non-specialists of plastic surgery are accepted. That's the tune. Aesthetic
Surgery at its highest level. Organisation: like a Swiss clock. Social
programme: no energy left after this scientific programme. Although: the
"Presidential Dinner" - glamorous. Ceaser's Palace and glittering Las Vegas
- like Disneyland. Overall impression: BINGO!

XIV World Congress of the
International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

More than 600 Plastic Surgeons
from all over the world gathered, among them the most prominent names of
ISAPS. Sabri Acatürk organised the hugely extensive scientific programme: 7
guest lectures, 14 round-table discussions, 12 lecture blocks with
independent lectures and 35 Master-Class lectures. The social programme was
overwhelming: folklore and modernity at the opening with flags from all 61
participating countries, 2 glamorous nights in stately palaces at the shores
of the Bosporus ("Marmara - Esma Sultan" and "Ciragan Palace"). As a
concluding attraction oriental hospitality provided a belly dance
performance. Participants were asked to join. Atmosphere - exuberant.
Overall impression: GIGA!

India as the cradle of plastic
surgery (initial plastic operations in history were conducted by Sushruta
600 years BC) keeps up with the international developments. 3 days full time
programme with very well selected topics, presented by 15 international and
12 national guest speakers in front of 170 indian plastic surgeons and 130
physians of various fields. Organisation: flexible and extremely well-done
in an overwhelming hospitable setting. Social programme: folklore and
glamour, with government- and university personalities, in Indian-spicey
gastronomy. Atmosphere - casual. Overall impression: HIMALAYA!
